About Matt Summers
My background is in civil engineering and landscape architecture. Having worked in these professions for a number of years, I decided to take a course in cabinet making with Chris Arnold near Ross-on-Wye and turn my creative skills to designing and making fitted furniture.
I specialise in fitted-furniture at sensible, affordable prices, using solid woods (both hardwood and softwood) and contemporary materials such as veneered mdf. I aim to work sustainably wherever possible.
Commissioning a piece of furniture is an adventure... each piece is made to commission allowing you to be involved in the design process; the style maybe contemporary or traditional and created from a variety of timbers, each with its own particular characteristics.
The result is a unique piece of hand-made furniture, full of character and built to last many years.
I am based in the picturesque Cotswold village of Uley, between Stroud and Dursley. If you would like to visit me in the workshop please contact me to arrange a suitable time. I am always happy to discuss any project ideas or furniture requirements you may have.
“I wanted to let you know how happy I am with the kitchen island that you have built. It really does look much better than I imagined and I am particularly pleased with the detailing and finish. The whole process from design through to wood selection has gone really well.”
